He shall receive a power



Ø  Acts 1:8 > God the father has reserved power for me.
§  God always wanted His people to be His witnesses, appointed to be “a light for the darken world”.
Ø  Because of his resurrection, Jesus offer power to us.
Ø  If you have this extraordinary power you cannot live ordinary life.
Ø  As Christians we need not fail. The baptism in the Spirit is available as an empowering experience.
Ø  The mighty power is related to the promise given to Abraham that all nations of the earth would be blessed.
Ø  In Matthew 24:14 > Jesus told His disciples that “this gospel of the kingdom – the good news of God’s power and rule will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations.”
Ø  This age would be characterized by wars, rumors of wars, famines, and earthquakes. By receive mighty power as a result of being filled with the spirit, believers must go out and spread the gospel to all nations in the midst of all these natural calamities and political upheavals, regardless of the cost.
Ø  How they received the power?
                      i.        Acts 1:12-14 > they began to pray in one accord to receive the power.
                    ii.        Acts 2:37, 41 > Three thousand people added due to prayer in one accord.
                   iii.        Prayer can accelerate God’s purpose in your life.
Ø  Psalm 62: 11 > power belongs to God.
Ø  Matthew 14:23 > Jesus received power on response to prayer
Ø  Isaiah 45:15 > God hides himself and only revealed to those who prayed.
Ø  How God reveal himself?
                      i.        Luke 18: 9-20 > Prayer revels the father to us.
                    ii.        Jeremiah 29:13 > through prayer search God with all your heart, draw near to God & he will draw near to you.
                   iii.        Jeremiah 33:3 > call onto god, stretching yourself in prayer, cry of desperation.
: He will answer me
: He will give me vision
: He will give me knowledge
Ø  The more you search for God the less you remain
1.    Psalms 50:15 > Prayer glorify God.
§  Isaiah 40:30 > we received strength when we pray.
§  Prayer is the essence of our life.
§  Prayer is communion with god
§  Prayer should be like breathing for us.
2.    Isaiah 40:31 > wind is the Holy Spirit; we need to be like an eagle to wait upon the power of God to accelerate our life victoriously.
3.    Isaiah 6:5 > prayer reveals who we really are. He speaks woe to himself.
4.    Psalm 19:12-13 > prayer has the power to clean our sin.
§  Matthew 24:16 > temptation comes in two form, temptation of sin or test of faith if you stand on the ground of word of god.
5.    Psalms 17:5 > prayer has the power to hold us out.
6.    Psalms 141:3 > prayer has the power to govern our tongue
